Respected sadh Sangat ji with the blessing of Guru Granth Sahib ji, the foundation of the new Gurughar building has been laid down at 790 East 2nd st. Reno, NV. This the original location in Reno where the very first parkash of Guru Granth Sahib Ji was established in 1996. Due to some unforeseen circumstances the building was burnt in 2010. But with grace of Guru Ji and the devotion of sangat a beautiful new design is being constructed and we hope to bring the Gurughar to its original glory. we truly believe the power of Guru Jis words sung in this place has brought us back. we humbly request all the Sadh Sangat physical, emotional and financial Sewa.

HISTORY OF

Gurudwara…

A Gurudwara, meaning the Gateway to the Guru, is the place of worship for Sikhs, the followers of Sikhism. This is a place where the Guru Granth Sahib is is placed on a takhat (an elevated throne) and treated with due respect according to the Sikh code of conduct and convention. The main functions that are carried out in all public gurdwaras on a daily basis include: Shabad Kirtan: which is the singing of hymns from the Guru Granth Sahib Paath: which is religious discourse and reading of Gurbani from the Guru Granth Sahib, with its explanations Sangat and Pangat, a free community kitchen as a langar for all visitors, irrespective of religious, regional, cultural, racial, caste or class affiliations.

Along with these main functions, the gurudwaras around the world also serve the Sikh community in many other ways including, libraries of Sikh literature, schools to teach children Gurmukhi (Sikh script), the Sikh scriptures and charitable work in the wider community on behalf of Sikhs. There are no idols, statues, or religious pictures in a Gurudwara, but the essential feature of a Gurudwara is the presiding presence of the holy book and the eternal Sikh Guru, the Guru Granth Sahib. The Sikhs hold high respect for the teachings and commandments laid down in the Guru Granth Sahib.

All donations are tax-deductible in the United States. The focus here is always on worship, teaching, learning Sikhi values and connecting with the Supreme Lord. Sangat comes here, does worship, learns, and tries to understand Sikh values, its virtues and rise higher in their lives. We would appreciate donations made from visitors,friends and families to help operate the “Dasmesh Darbar” (Gurdwara). All the donations made to the Gurdwara is solely will go towards the Building Fund of the New Building.
